One-up print PDFs, die-cutting data, CAD drawings, and other assets are assigned unambiguously to the product or job.

Fixed product attributes are separated deliberately from job-specific parameters. Language versions, regional editions, seasonal designs, and customer-specific variants follow a stable logic. New SKUs enter production faster, and product maintenance remains manageable even with a large number of variants.

Call-Off Orders Reuse Approved Data With Confidence

Many packaging jobs are released as call-off orders against blanket orders or existing product assortments. symphony manages approved one-ups with their product and version references. Each call-off order reuses the current print and production data and adds the run length, due date, delivery address, and other current order information.

If the best-by date, lot code, ingredient information, barcode, or promotional message changes, symphony handles the call-off as a modified repeat order. The workflow documents the differences, assigns the new version to the one-up, and initiates the required reviews and approvals. The correct variant enters production with current information, while the complete history remains traceable.

Packaging approvals often involve brand managers, marketing, regulatory affairs, quality assurance, packaging development, and customers. symphony maps the sequence, responsibilities, deadlines, and results as a workflow. Specialized artwork, proofing, and customer portals can be integrated into this process.

The defined downstream process starts automatically after final approval. Depending on the current status, later changes are limited to approved parameters. Print substrates, inks, coatings, preprinted materials, semi-finished goods, and cutting dies are managed with their storage location, inventory level, and availability. symphony reserves the required materials, controls staging, and records stock transactions or transfers directly using scanners.

Material lots can be traced from goods receipt through their use in production to the shipped order. This transparency is especially important for food packaging because food-contact materials must remain traceable through every stage. symphony provides a reliable data foundation for quality management, audits, complaints, and targeted recalls.
